New year, new diet
Hey guys! Quick late-Sunday-night post here. Niomi Smart, one of my favorite youtubers/bloggers, uploaded a healthy breakfast video today (link here). She demonstrated how to make three super quick, super easy breakfast recipes that are not only delicious (yes, I've already tried one and it's amazing) but also vegan.
Since the start of 2016 I've already been improving what I put into my body by eating less junk and going on the occasional juice cleanse. But this video got me thinking that there is one other thing I could eliminate from my diet to become an even healthier me: meat. Now, I've always loved meat. Growing up in Poland, alongside potatoes, bread, and butter (I know...so healthy), meat was pretty much my main food group. However, I've recently started despising meats like pork and beef and pretty much anything other than clean, white chicken. And with my sister being a pescatarian for most of her life (eats seafood but not meat), I've realized that I would much rather have a quinoa or black bean burger than a beef one.
SO - I've decided to give vegetarianism a try. Or rather pescatarianism, because a girl's gotta eat her sushi. But I'm not just jumping into the deep end straight away; that usually results in the yo-yo effect (a.k.a. giving up after a week). Instead, I will eliminate meat slowly over the course of this week, and Saturday I will eat my last steak at my dad's birthday dinner. If all goes well, that steak will be my last ever. A lot of you (and my family and friends) will think I'm crazy, because let's face it, bacon is good. But I am really looking forward to trying this, because what I've just realized is that I don't actually like meat that much. ((I am not going vegan though. I would most likely die if I stopped eating cheese and eggs even for one day.))
Let me know what you think down in the comments, and if any of you have done this, please give me any tips you might have! Oh, and wish me luck :)
P.S. I just added a "subscribe" button below my Blog Addictions column, so if you like what you read, feel free to enter your email to receive notificiations whenever I post (which would probably be nice, considering how irregular my schedule is).
xxo
